本篇研究之個案為兒童選擇性緘默症兒童，其好發年齡一般約在幼兒時期。由於其溝通障礙的表現與一般兒童之語言溝通障礙行為有特殊不同之處；國內鮮少有相關的研究報告，因此，比較不受到注意與關注。本研究之目的即藉由對三個個案之研究，探討其問題所在、同時提供可採行之介入輔導策略，並希望相關單位能投注更多的關心與擔助。 本研究從閱讀過去相關文獻整理所得的三個向度：定義診斷、產生原因及介入治療來蒐集三個疑似有兒童選擇性緘默症個案之資料，以作為分析與探討之依據。本研究之對象，乃筆者在臺中師院「特教中心」語言障礙諮詢專線中所接到的二男二女；疑似有選擇性緘默症的個案：其中兩位是國小學生，分別為蔡生與林生，林生為女性；另一位是幼稚園大班的男性鍾生。 研究方法則以質的個案研究進行，過程包括四個步驟：(一)確定問題的狀況、(二)蒐集有關資料、(三)結果分析、(四)輔導與矯治。當中應用了觀察個案、訪談家長、或老師、或社工具、錄音、以及個案文件資料蒐集等方式。最後對所蒐集到之資料予以整理，進一步地對三個個案具有選擇緘默的狀況，分別予以分析和探討。 本研究結果顯示：研究中三位被疑似為選擇性緘默症兒童，符合多數對選擇性緘默症的定義和條件。分析影響個案緘默的產生原因則發現：親子關係、家庭結構、性格心理因素、以及個體本身之語言能力程度等因素是影響個案緘默重要考量因素；而家庭以學校雙方面的配合是影響介入效果之關鍵因素。另外也發現，這三個個案皆於幼兒時期即開始有選擇性緘默的症狀出現，相信這應值得從事幼兒教育及早期療育相關單位的重視。

　　　　　The purpose of this study is to review the literatures pertaining to children with elective mutism (EM), to interpret some research findings on children with EM, and further to suggest how to facilitate these children for intervention and therapy. Three children suspected of having EM were enrolled in this case study. Qualitative methods of observation, interview and documentary research were employed to data collection. The results of this study show that parent-child relationship, family structure, psychological personality and language ability are influential factors for EM children. Besides, the support from family and the cooperation between family and school are also important factors of effective intervention for these children.
