題名:大眾傳播媒介對大學生政治支持的影響:一項定群追蹤的研究

本論文研究大學生政治支持的持續與變遷,並分析大眾傳播媒介為何與如何影響大學生的政治支持。本研究從政治傳播與政治社會化的角度,討論大眾傳播媒介對於政治支持究竟是正面的影響或負面的影響,「良性循環論」與「媒介抑鬱論」兩個理論對這個問題的論點分庭抗禮。前者認為媒介具有公共服務、提高政治涉入感的功能,因此稱為「良性循環論」;後者則認為媒介具有許多負面內容和不公正的報導,因此稱為「媒介抑鬱論」。本文認為大學生教育程度較高,應較有獨立判斷的能力,因此應較不受媒介負面內容影響,良性循環論解釋力應較高。再者,本研究發現大學生的政治支持除了受到傳播媒介良性循環的影響,政黨認同也是其形成政治支持的重要影響因素。
有別於一般政治傳播與政治社會化的研究設計,本研究採用定群追蹤研究法,以貫時性的資料型態更能瞭解政治支持如何持續與變遷。本研究發現,在大學生的政治支持中,對政治社群與典則的支持相對穩定,但對於政治人物、政府的支持較不穩定,且逐年下滑。在傳播媒介對政治支持影響方面,政治媒介注意程度、政治媒介公正性評估對政治支持具有正向影響,符合良性循環論。
再者,媒介抑鬱論與良性循環論分別在政治媒介暴露程度與政治媒介注意程度對政治支持的影響中成立。政治媒介暴露程度與媒介認知交互作用對政治支持的影響為負向,而政治媒介注意程度與媒介認知交互作用對政治支持的影響為正向。因此暴露程度與注意程度具有相當不同的內涵、意義與影響,值得研究者注意。最後,不同政黨認同者在政治媒介使用與媒介認知不同時,其對政治支持影響的差異如何?本研究發現,泛綠認同者對政治社群與權威當局的支持較泛藍認同者高,可見政黨認同是政治支持的影響因素。
