Ever since the mid-80s, the parents’ satisfaction with their children’s school has been displaying its meaningfulness on school management in America; and Taiwan shows no exceptions to this trend. In sight of this inexorable development in education, the writer deems it necessary to take an exploration into discovering the significance of how parents’ satisfaction would influence or help promote the school quality and school effectiveness. In doing it, this paper focuses on finding (1) what constitutes parents’ demographic background; (2) what features the parents would mind when they are trying to choose a school for their children to go to; (3) of what position of educational philosophy they would be better in favor, such as utilitarianism or progressivism; (4) the parents’ satisfaction toward the school management in terms of teacher effectiveness in teaching, student achievement, communication and respect, curriculum features, discipline and safe, equipment and environment, etc.; (5) parents’ loyalty to the school, e.g. would they be willing to promote for the school, would they be happy to stay rather than to transfer. This research uses questionnaire survey as its main method, and is assisted with focus group interview. The questionnaires about parents includes: (1) the background of the patents, (2) the key factors when choosing a school, (3) the educational slogans that they prefer, (4) how they are satisfied with the school management, (5) how much they support the school, and (6) the satisfaction toward the previous school, which is answered only by the parents who have transferred their children to another school. The questionnaires are distributed to seven counties and cities in Taiwan, and 991 of them are returned and usable. They are then analyzed by Descriptive Statistics, Independent-Sample t Test, Paired-Sample t Test, One-Way ANOA, and Multiple Linear Regression to test and verify the presumptions. Structural Equation Model is applied to complete the final data analysis, and the result shows that the relationship model between parents’ satisfaction and parents’ support is sustained. Focus group interview is lastly employed to clarify, as well as to understand the parents’ expectation and suggestions to the school, the area where the parents have revealed ambiguous attitudes toward their educational standpoints in the survey.
