This paper is intended as an investigation of the Chinese cultural semiotics: its birth, concern and central topic, its theoretical basis (relevant theory of Gong, Peng-Cheng), a survey of the cultural semiotics and its prominent features. So far the study of Chinese cultural semiotics has been superficial. This article simply illustrated the background of the Chinese cultural semiotics which was based on Chinese grammatology in order to retain the original connotations they have in Chinese culture according to the principle of faithfulness to the specificity of text by methodological understanding, linguistic understanding and ontological understanding. We arrive at the conclusion that Gong, Peng-Cheng's theory about Chinese cultural semiotics helps us rethink the definition, category, theme, content, the relationship between outsider and insider, and ways of understanding Chinese cultural from a deeper perspective, and that his fresh insight contributes substantially to the whole field of cultural semiotics.
