The purpose of this study is to introduce the teacher appraisal policy in UK by means of document analysis. The article consists of three parts. First, the social context of teacher appraisal was described, including the social background and education reform in UK. Secondly, I explored the developmental process of this policy, and analyzed three developmental phrases and their traits. Following the discussion, some suggestrons for formulating and implementing teacher appraisal policy in Taiwan were proposed.
