　　　　　本研究乃是延續章英華等人（ 1996 ）對「教育分流」的社會學研究。 在他們 的研究中， 中等教育「高中 / 高職」分流受到背景因素的左右，且影響了往後的職業表現 ；進入「高中」分流途徑者各方面表現均優於「高職」。本研究進一步地在「分流」概念上 作區分，除「高中 / 職」分流外，再針對「公 / 私立」進行區分，形成四種分流模式一併 探討。本研究結果顯示：背景因素對於個人進入分流教育的確有影響，背景較好的人進入「 公立高中」，背景較差的人則進入「私立高職」。進一步以邏輯回歸模型分析則呈現: 在社 會階層化的過程當中，「公 / 私立」分流比起「高中 / 職」分流更具影響力。
　　　　　This study is an extension of the previous study, by Chang et al. (1996), on the effect of tracking in Taiwan's secondary education system. According to Chang's analysis, individuals with higher backgrounds tend to enter the academic senior high schools and obtain better jobs in the labor market. In this study, I further distinguish the public and private senior high schools into four different tracking patterns and analyze the effects of family background on the formation of academic/vocational and 'public/private tracking. Empirical analysis of this study shows that individuals with differing backgrounds enter different tracks. Individuals with higher backgrounds tend to enroll in the public academic senior high schools, while those with lower backgrounds tend to enter the private vocational senior high schools. The logistic regression analysis indicates that the distinction between the public/private tracking is much more salient than that of the academic/vocational tracking in Taiwan's social stratification process.
