The education for old adults in aging society will play an important role for elders' successful aging. Elders were often taken to be care-receivers and thus negative; this represents the viewpoint of negative aging. Positive development of elders' personality and spirituality was often ignored. Therefore, to facilitate elders to achieve self-empowerment will be an important social work on the social agenda. "Toward the Aged Society-the White Book of Policies for Senior Education" was published in 2006 by our Government in Taiwan, emphasizing the importance and positive values of pursuing the meaning of life, wisdom, and spiritual development for the aging adults. This represents a positive measure towards the aging adults today. This paper makes a preliminary exploration on the demand and the meaning of spiritual development for the aging adults, based on the Western and Chinese cultural perceptions and the theories from Maslow and Jung. Hopefully, we could change the negative stereotyped perception of the aging adults and provide suggestions in education for senior adults in our society.
