　　　　　伴隨著世界的新秩序猶待重整之際，人類社會卻將邁入二十一世紀，二十一世紀的社會不僅是一個資訊社會，而且是一個後現代社會。後現代社會的景象，除體現在政治的民主化、經濟的自由化、社會的開放化和價值的多元化之外，變動與不確定為其最大特徵。就人類社會的演化歷程觀之，前現代階段的農業社會，變遷遲緩；現代階段的工業社會，變遷漸速；迨至後現代階段的資訊社會，則變遷急速。教育系統係整個社會系統的一個次級系統，因此，教育的發展不可避免地會受到社會環境變遷的影響。 　　為深入探討後現代教育發展的困境及其超越破解之道，本文共分五方面來加以論述：首先，說明後現代社會的基本概念圖像；其次，探索後現代社會發展的相關理論思潮；復次，分析後現代教育發展所面臨的重要困境；最後，針對後現代教育發展困局，提出實際可行的發展策略，以供教育有關當局參考。
　　　　　While a new world order is waiting to rebuild, the world will soon enter 21st century. The society of Twenty First century is not only an information society, but a post-modern Society. There are some characteristics in post-modern society: political democratization, economic liberalization, social opening, value pluralization, and uncertainty. Viewed form the social evolution process, the speed of change at premodern stage is very slowly; but at modern stage, it is steadly increasing; and at post-modern stage, it is rapidly increasing compared to that of previous two stages. In order to explore the dilemma and transcendence of post-modern educational development, the paper include five parts: (1) to describe some basic concepts of post-modern society; (2) to investigate related megatrends of post-modern theories and thoughts; (3) to analyze the dilemma of post-modern educational development; (4) to provide the practical strategies of holistic educational development for post-modern society.
