And this research finally makes some preliminary suggestions for the planning of schoolteachers’ evaluation system in Taiwan. The main results and suggestions for this research are as follows: 1.The Act of Teacher Evaluation must be enacted as a legal base. 2.The aims of Teacher Evaluation Scheme are to improve teachers’ professional development and assess teachers’ performance. 3.The criteria of Teacher Evaluation must take the different professional needs of new teachers and in-service teachers into consideration. 4.The main methods for doing teacher evaluation could be classroom observation, together with other methods such as appraisal interview, assessment/review meeting, relevant data collection, etc. 5.The promotion of teachers must rest upon the actual results of teacher evaluation. 6.The treatment of ineligible teachers can be according to the objective results of teacher evaluation. 7.The evaluator must have appropriate training and the government must invest enough funds for the operation of teacher evaluation schemes.
