This paper, combining the results of two studies that used content analysis method, aims to compare the quantity and content of the materials related to social action approach in various social studies textbooks. The main findings are as follows: 1.As to the rank of the quantity of the materials related to social action approach in various social studies textbooks, the textbooks for the 3-4 graders are the first, those for the 5-6 graders come second, and those for the 7-9 graders are the last. 2. In all the materials related to social action approach, the content about the "learning & awareness" has the most quota, followed by the "inquiry & empowerment", and the "civic action" has the least. 3. As to the presentation of materials related to social action, it is often illuminated in students' workbooks. The ways it is illuminated in the textbooks for the 7-9 graders tend to be traditional and appended, and are extremely different from those for the 3-4 graders and the 5-6 graders.
